Silly me...

I bought a lovely old copy of Anna Karinina for a quarter yesterday. Unfortunantly, the one time I tried to read it, I hated it. But it was such a beautiful old copy that I couldn't resist!

So, should I:

Keep it in the hopes of liking it better the second time, and in the meantime, it would be a handsome addition to my bookshelves
Give it away to some deserving soul who loves it
Turn it in at the bookstore, where I will get credit towards other used books for it
Use it as a doorstop or something else useful

On to other things. Such as the Solemn Thought of the Day. (Found in Gold Dust, a book I inherited from my Great-grandfather, which was printed in 1901.)

One more solemn thought: How old are you? Nineteen. Have you reckoned the number of minutes that have elapsed since your birth? The number is startling: nine millions, three hundred and thirty-three thousand, two hundred. ...Each of those minutes has flown to God; God has examined them and weighed them and for them you must give account.

I'm nineteen. And that's a scary thought.

Re: i voted....
*raises eyebrows* That's right, you LIKE those Russian books, don't you? (Think: Crime and Punishment. teehee)

Er, I'm leaning towards keeping it, just because I looked at it, and it doesn't look as bad as I remember it. But I could loan it to you for, like, a year. =) Or maybe read it, and THEN give it to you. Yes?

Nono, give it to ME! I'LL take it! Nevermind that I've never read it so I don't know if I like it either. Also disregard that I already have a copy. 0:-)

It would appear that I am your only Mercenary Friend. I chose the second to the last option. It happens when you get horses, you know. Money, where before was merely a nice thing to have every once in a while, has now become The Driving Force Of My Life. How sad, no? :-P

I voted the first option, since I have had it where I have grown to like a book after trying to read it half a dozen times. Besides, it will make a lovley addition to your shelf! =-)You could always send it to me, I like old books.;-) And I don't have a copy of Anna Karinina!

Me too--most recently with Pride and Prejudice. I read it once, years ago, and thought it was boring. A couple weeks ago I finished it for the second time, and loved it. =)

Btw--I added you to my friends list. And I'm curious--where did your user name come from? The only thing I can think of right now is the Mia from The Princess Diaries, but it may be something else altogether. =)
