- any guesses how many alarms I'm going to set to make sure I get up and to the airport on time? TOO MANY. #paranoid

- unpopular opinion: sometimes I just get really tired of twitter hashtag activism.

- gardening update: yesterday mom and dad and I planted 20 lb of potatoes, four sets of onions (I got four different kinds but neglected to remember the names of any of them, so tough luck if we happen to like one kind more than the others), and a bunch of greens. We had so much fun; the weather was perfect and the grass green enough to lay on between jobs and everybody was in a good mood and laughing and carrying on. I'm so glad I was here for that.

- BUT I got sunburnt. I knew better. I talked about putting on sunscreen. I didn't do it and now my neck and arms and ears are pink. *headdesk* Revoke my adult card now, please.

Gardening day sounds so nice. My balcony garden took all of ten minutes and I even have weepy-looking basil. What I would give for potatoes and onions and sunburns!

I did that to myself a couple of years ago - major sunburn the very first day out gardening. The sun feels so good at the time, and your skin is so vulnerable first time out. I felt just as stupid, too. I'm not sure I was there when they gave out the adult cards, though. I seem to be missing mine constantly.

How fun to be able to enjoy planting a garden--and a bonus to enjoy it in harmony with family. What a blessing--even if it involved sunburn.

ETA:

I usually use three alarms in such cases, with two out of reach, one of the two across the room.

I get annoyed over the pressure to RT/contribute, etc. And the sense that people think they're doing some great thing when who knows if it actually helps! Maybe it does; maybe people gain awareness, but I can't help but feel that it's usually preaching to the choir, rather than nuanced discourse.

Apparently I had more thoughts than I realized.

It's really hard to have nuanced conversation of any kind on twitter. :p obviously. I dunno, it's just a lot like tumblr in the amount of constant outrage and indignation. It gets tiring.

Planting day sounds wonderful! :) I'm not even going to start until probably May.

GREEN grass? Warm enough to be outside? Sunburnt?! My brain cannot fathom these things. ;)

We finally, finally thawed out a bit and most of the snow has disappeared now. People came out of their homes in droves. But it's far, far too wet to do things like lay in the brown, muddy yucky old grass. It reached the 50s this weekend and it was amazing. Supposed to be 70 on Wednesday! And it was just three days ago we had a blizzard. Happiness!
